About

[one_half_last]It all started in the spring of 1888 when Johnson County residents north of Piney Creek moved to reorganize their district, and a new identity was born: the Sheridan Brand.

Historically, branding in the West has involved firing the business end of an iron in hot coals and burning in an identifying mark to signify ownership, a tradition that remains to this day.

Now over 125-years old, the Sheridan iron is unique in that it brands from both ends: all those who live here and visit here are marked by this place, and they in turn mark it, as well.SONY DSC

Because Sheridan Brand is a mentality. It’s pulling up one’s bootstraps and lending a hand in a time of need. It’s cherishing and caring for both what is new and what is old.

Sheridan Brand is an experience. It’s Main Street and the Bighorns. It’s the WYO Rodeo and the WYO Theater. It’s renovation, innovation and exploration.

Sheridan Brand is people. It’s artists, cowboys and cowgirls, entrepreneurs, miners, polo players and tourists. It’s singles, families, growing children and everything in between.

Sheridan Brand is each of us. It’s where we came from, how we got here and why we stay. It’s who we’ve been, who we are and who we hope to be.

Our humble contribution to the Sheridan Brand is to chronicle the character, commerce and curiosities of this incredible community we call home. We hope to help shape the brand as it shapes us.

Because life here is good.

The Sheridan Brand is also sharing.
