The Sheridan College Outdoor Adventure Club will host its annual fall community gear swap on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheridan College Whitney Academic Center Atrium. Admission to the event is free. The Sheridan Swim Team Sharks hosts its annual Salute to Veterans Meet at the Sheridan Junior High Early Building Pool. Forty-five Sheridan athletes will compete against swimmers from across the region. Swimming begins at 10:00 on Saturday, 9:00 Sunday. During the meet, SST will be raising funds to assist the Manuel and Rhonda Gallegos family, whose 6-year-old daughter, Avaleena, was recently diagnosed with neuroblatoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Due to predicted snow and extremely low temperatures on Tuesday, November 11, Sheridan College will move its Veterans Day ceremony indoors to the Whitney Presentation Hall, room W136 in the Whitney Building. The start time has also been changed to 11 a.m. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the start of the Vietnam War.
