It’s here – Rodeo week in all it’s glory. The busiest and most celebrated 7 days in the great town of Sheridan, Wyoming has officially kicked off. Below is everything you need to know about the Sheridan WYO Rodeo and more.

MONDAY, JULY 6TH

10:00 am – 6:00 pm – Miss Indian America (MIA) Invitational Art Exhibition

6:00 pm – Rodeo Royalty Horsemanship (Fairgrounds)

6:30 pm and 9:00 pm – The Craft Brothers’ 20th Anniversary Wild and Woolly, WYO Show (WYO Theater)

Monday: where it all begins. Just because the actual rodeo performances don’t start until Wednesday doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do on the first day of Rodeo week. Monday is a great day to go check out the Miss Indian America Invitational Art Exhibition, especially since the week only gets busier and busier as it goes along. Also, there is no better way to dip your toes into Rodeo week than attending the Wild and Woolly show. The beloved (and local) Craft Brothers are not only talented, but exceptionally entertaining. Don’t miss it.

TUESDAY, JULY 7TH

10:00 am – 6:00 pm – MIA Invitational Art Exhibition (Sagebrush Art Center)

Don’t forget that the kids have a chance to compete as well, in the stick-pony barrel races. Children race around the barrels in hopes of claiming one of the awesome prizes awarded to the top finishers. As for the boot kick-off, there will be over $1,200 in Chamber Bucks awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each competition category.

RODEO THEME: Celebrating 85 years (wear “old timey” cowboy clothes (Fairgrounds)) Following Rodeo – Street Dance (Downtown).

Ah Rodeo Saturday. The last night to give it everything you have. Friday was just a warm-up for Saturday. Every Rodeo Saturday for the last 84 years has been legendary, and you would be a fool to think the final performance of the 85th anniversary of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo would be anything but spectacular. And don’t forget about butt darts. There’s nothing better than grown men and women sticking a quarter in between their cheeks and running through an obstacle course whilst maintaining a proper clench, only to attempt a bull’s-eye drop into a steel shot glass while other grown men and women hoot and holler. They might not have done that 84 years ago, but I bet they would’ve loved as much then as we do now.

SUNDAY, JULY 12TH

TBA – Bob King Memorial Team Roping (Fairgrounds)

10:00 pm – 6:00 pm – MIA Invitational Art Exhibition (Sagebrush Art Center)

1:00 pm – Tailgate Party, Polo Game (Big Horn Equestrian Center) including Sheridan Wyo Rodeo Royalty Meet Greet

The wear and tear of the Rodeo Week begins to set in with aching muscles and baggy eyes. But deep down, you know it was worth it to experience the amazing 7 days we proudly call Rodeo Week. All that’s left to do is haul on out to the Equestrian Center and enjoy a cold beverage at the polo match. And don’t bother asking us why the segments of a polo game are called chuckers. We’re too busy getting ready for next year’s Rodeo.
