They might not have been moving quite as fast as they appear to be in this seven-hours-crunched-into-a-minute-and-a-half video, but the staff members at Frackelton’s were definitely hopping, skillfully moving about the kitchen in a form of orchestrated chaos preparing plates for patrons attending the Dining for a Cause event.

Over the lunch and dinner hours, just over 600 guests dined at the downtown restaurant, which amounts to a whole lot of appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts and drinks. In fact, if you put all of those diners’ sweet potato fries, iceberg wedge salads, penne pasta dishes, triple chocolate mousse cakes and key lime martinis (plus gratuity) on one ticket, you’d come up with a tab totaling $14,000.

Frackelton’s donated that amount — 100% of the day’s sales — to The Food Group, a non-profit formed in 2010 which provides weekend food packs to 400 Sheridan County youth age preschool to high school. Another $1500 in private contributions given by diners during Food Group - Frackelton'sthe event brought the total donation to $15,500.

According to Executive Director Missi HubertF, that donation will go a long way towards The Food Group’s efforts to get food to children for the weekends.

“We spend around $6 per child per week. Serving 400 children, that puts us at $9600 a month in total groceries,” explains Hubert. “With this donation, we’ll be able to provide almost 2600 weekend food packs to those children over a month-and-a-half period.”

And aside from the incredible amount of money raised, it just felt like a really positive and fun event for the community,” Hubert added.

Dave Youngren, Frackelton’s general manager, agreed. “It was a crazy night, but that”s what made it so fun,” Youngren said. “If you”re hosting an event like Dining for a Cause, that’s what you want: lots of people. Kudos to our Frackelton’s staff for all of the hard work they put in for a great cause.”

“We’re pleased to help such a worthwhile Sheridan County program like The Food Group, and we can’t thank the community enough for coming out to support the event.”
