#INSTAMEET

There is something very eye opening about moving back to your home town. A new appreciation for the things you once over looked or grew accustomed to. Sheridan has so many wonderful details that make up the entire picture. I just wanted a way to call out the unexpected and reintroduce people to their surroundings.

Being a complete geek about Instagram and photography, I saw Sheridan and its historic, texture-filled Main Street as the perfect place to host an “InstaMeet.”

InstaWHAT???

An InstaMeet: the perfect opportunity to connect with people who are just as geeky about taking pictures and looking to embrace their creativity and explore their surroundings. All you need is a phone with Instagram and a curious eye. And what I love about this town (and one of the main reasons I moved back) is that the community is hungry and eager for new events like this.

For only getting the word out via Instagram & Facebook, Wyoming’s first InstaMeet was very well received. We ended up having a tremendous little group of shooters show up from Sheridan and Montana, ranging 3 to 61 in age and with the experience levels of greenhorn to I-get-paid-to-take-pictures professionals.

I honestly can’t think of a better way to capture such a variety of Main Street images in a matter of just two hours, and our #sheridanshooters2014 Instagram feed is proof of just that. A refreshing and fantastic time was had by all AND I imagine they will all be back for the second Sheridan InstaMeet, along with all the others who were excited and curious but just couldn’t fit it into their holiday schedules.

Stay tuned in 2015, InstaFriends. This was just the beginning.
