~CONTENT POWERED BY FLOOD MARKETING~
You heard it here, folks! The people over at the Antelope Butte Foundation have made a down payment to purchase the Antelope Butte Ski area, including the buildings and lifts! It’s a huge milestone in getting the area up and running again, and we couldn’t be more stoked. They’re even having an open house on Sunday, October 11, to celebrate! It’s from 12:00p to 4:00p, and tours and food (and beer, yum) will be available. All of the info is below, from the ABF:
The Antelope Butte Foundation has made the down payment for purchase of the improvements of the Antelope Butte Ski & Recreation Area (lodge, lifts, outbuildings). This achievement allows us to have the keys to the facilities and to begin some repairs and preventive maintenance. We have already begun some cleaning of the lodge, and will be sealing the leaks before the snow comes. The ball is officially rolling and ABF only has $220,000 in payments remaining to secure the deed and begin full restoration of the ski area.
On Sunday, October 11 we will open the facilities at Antelope Butte to the public for an open house. From 12:00pm-4:00pm, we will open the lodge for tours, as well as the outbuildings and be available to answer any questions the public has about the project. In the spirit of the mountains, we will also have beer, refreshments, and be grilling burgers and brats for anyone that participates.
Zowada Plumbing & Heating and Dan Black have made the generous commitment to provide the labor and materials for all plumbing work in the lodge! We are mobilizing our volunteer corps now, and will be working with local tradesman and contractors for other in-kind gifts of labor and materials to help renovate our lodge. For anyone interested in volunteering their time (construction, fundraising, events), there is now a volunteer registration at the bottom of this page: http://www.antelopebuttefoundation.org/fundraising/
PS- For those who live in Sheridan County, mark your calendar for Thursday, February 18 and the Inaugural Ullr Ball. More details will be available this fall.
