“If you are a member of the Chamber, then you have had some contact with Janet Shepherd. Her title is ‘Information Specialist’, but she is pretty much the go-to gal for Sheridan County and the Chamber.
On July 5, 2005, Janet was newly retired, new to Sheridan, and she wanted to find a way to get involved. She ended up volunteering at the Chamber by answering phones. Little by little, though, Janet became a “fundamental part of operations” according to former Chamber Director Melissa Butcher.
Fast forward to July 11, 2016, and Janet has now volunteered for 11 years and is no longer the new girl in town. She is the human directory and calendar for Sheridan County, and if she doesn’t know something, she is one effective detective. And at the Chamber, she has become irreplaceable. She has become the newsletter queen, the community calendar watchman, the membership welcome committee, and the Google of Sheridan County.
And now, on the 11th anniversary of her first step into the Chamber, Janet is retiring for the second time. “Janet is amazing. She goes above and beyond in everything she has done here at the Chamber and is indispensable. It takes three people to do what she does and she can never be replaced. We will miss her and can never thank her enough for what she has given to the Chamber, and more importantly, to the community of Sheridan,” says Chamber CEO Dixie Johnson.
