The Antelope Butte Foundation has scheduled some volunteer work days in order to get some community support in cleaning up the ski routs and making the place, well, ski-able. Get ready, you ski bums and worker bees.

SHERIDAN, WY – The Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area has scheduled two volunteer workdays this month: September 10 and September 24.  The purpose of these days, called “Beaver Days”, is to remove the debris and dangerous trees from the ski trails, roads, and chairlift paths.  Volunteers are invited to participate any times between 9:00am and 3:00pm at Antelope Butte during these workdays.
“Since purchasing the ski area in May we have had an outpouring of offers for volunteer support,” said Executive Director and Ski-EO Andrew Gast, “These Beaver Days are great ways for anyone interested to help us repair our ski trails and get some sweat equity in Antelope Butte”.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring pruners or chainsaws, and to also bring gloves and water.  Projects will focus on the ski trails historically called A and B, as well as service areas around the mountain.  Volunteers can participate for the entire day or choose to come just for the morning or afternoon and can be of any age or ability, but should be fit enough to walk up and work on the ski trails.
“We are really excited to give our supporters the chance to help us bring the mountain back to life,” said Gast.  “These should be some fun workdays that produce immediate, tangible results for the health and future of the ski area.”
Additional workdays are planned for October if the weather permits.  Work is also scheduled to begin this month on the first phase of repairs to the lodge, including an improved front entrance.  Information on becoming an Antelope Butte volunteer is available at www.AntelopeButte.org or emailingcontact@antelopebuttefoundation.org
