We love Halloween. The costumes, the candy, the Paganism. It’s basically the perfect holiday. Legend has it, Halloween (or All Hallow’s Eve as pretentious people call it) started with the Celtic tradition of Samhain, where bonfires were lit and costumes worn to ward off roaming spirits. Fast forward a few thousand years, and we mutilate pumpkins and hand candy out to children. Six of one, really. Sheridan has a storied history of observing Halloween, too. Like that time in 2006 when that guy dressed like Borat. Don’t you remember that? Good times. What better way to ring in this time of spooks and specters than a showing of one of the pinnacles of the horror movie: Dawn of the Dead. The classic 1978 zombie flick is making its way to the Wyo Theater this Saturday, September 17th. This will be the first in an ongoing series of Classic Horror Film Classics screened at the WYO. Tickets will be $11.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors and members of the military, and $9.50 for students. As if this wasn’t great enough, you can come dressed up as the living dead and enter a costume contest! You can get your tickets at wyotheater.com or at (307)-672-9084.
