Have you ever wondered what the Bighorn Mountains might taste like? Well, maybe you haven’t. But we know of something that will open your taste buds up to the Bighorn Mountain flavor. We’re talking about the Spruce Tip Ale, available at Luminous Brewhouse.

This beer is brewed with Blue and Mountain spruce tips (previously a mixture of Pacific and Blue) hand picked by Luminous Brewmaster, Seth Orr. Last month he volunteered at the Bighorn Mountain Trail Run at the Bacon Station and made sure to wake up early and go hunting for spruce groves around Dry Fork. Once he found them, he would choose a section, pick half the spruce tips and move on, in order to not harm the tree. Back at the brewhouse, the new ale was spruced up.

Seth first learned about a beer brewed with spruce tips from a friend, who owns Synergy Brewing Systems. One Oregon morning, Seth was asked to accompany him on an adventure to the coast. He soon found himself on a middle-of-nowhere beach where which encroached upon a Pacific Spruce grove. They picked the conifer tops and began brewing an Amber, with the addition of a ton of hops. This opened Seth’s eyes as a brewer, and he soon came up with his own idea for a true Spruce Tip Ale. Trust us, his recipe is mind-blowing.

Founded on hard work, with a smattering of deliciousness and a touch of creativity, it’s a beer you need to try. It will be available for a short time at the Luminous Tap Room inside Wyoming Cattle & Creek Co.
