Sheridan Has A New Happy Place in Andi's Coffee House

Andi’s Coffee House – 738 Broadway, Sheridan, WY

This month, Sheridan gained a new late night hot spot. Located next to the Sheridan Inn and across from the train tracks on Broadway, Andi’s Coffee House is serving up a new and welcomed experience to Sheridan residents and visitors.

The owners are Annie and Dionne Hendrickson, a mother and daughter who are excited to share their talents and vision with the rest of the community that they love.

“Andi’s is the perfect venue to create incredible edibles and nurture the child that lies within each of us. “ said Annie, “It’s a place where you feel comfortable and peaceful, where things just come together and your mind relaxes. You can be alone in your thoughts or in conversation with friends.“

The idea of “doing something bigger than [herself]” planted itself in Dionne’s mind when she was a student at Sheridan College.

“I was a high school and a college student here in Sheridan. It is an awesome town with great potential and that’s why I’ve chosen to stay. But I remember my days as a student, and the nights I spent wishing there was a place to be besides the bars and dingy restaurants. Something warm and inviting,” Said Dionne.

It wasn’t until her time in the northwest, being inspired by other coffee shops she had experienced around the country, that her original big idea sprouted into a local coffee house.

“The coffee experience is dear to me, and some of the coffee shops I’ve been to have been the coolest places to hang out. If done right, they create the perfect place to gather with friends, study, or do meaningful work. A place where people genuinely want to be.”

In March of last year, Dionne approached Annie expressing the desire to open a coffee shop. For Annie, this was the perfect compliment to a dream she had been carrying for years: baking all day long. Like that they were off and running.

“Within a month, the perfect property showed up for us, so my husband and I purchased and renovated it.” Annie said.

This was no easy feat. The property had been long neglected, and there was significant work to be done to transform it into a welcoming place for people to gather for a cup of coffee or a delicious scone. But the vision was there, and Annie and Dionne were struck by the history and charm of this century-old house. During their renovation they would find old newspapers, capturing forgotten days in Sheridan’s history, paper dolls lost by past residents, and all sorts of other treasures.

“[Andi’s] is about preserving the old while bringing in the new. Sheridan craves new life, and for a community to thrive, it must constantly have that, while still preserving what has worked in the past. It is important for us as a community to embrace the new—to get our young innovators to love it here and want to be its future. So my vision is that Andi’s will fill a much-needed niche in Sheridan—a place for the young and old. An active spring of new life, and a place rich with possibilities.”

That new life is definitely evident when you first step inside the new coffee house. You’ll immediately enjoy the smell of fresh bakery, made by Annie, exotic coffee from all over the world chosen by Dionne, and several friendly faces of their staff and other customers. Behind the counter you will even find a “Pay it forward” board, where you can give your friends credit on their next visit, publically showing your appreciation for them.
