4 New Year’s resolutions for Wyomingites

  1. Take a road trip

From Devil’s Tower to the hot springs in Thermopolis to stunning Yellowstone National Park, there’s more to see in Wyoming than you can imagine. Our state is full of national treasures; get out and see them!

  1. Quit complaining about the cold!

new year's resolutionsYour family in Florida or Arizona or basically-anywhere-south-of-Wyoming keep posting pictures of how gorgeous the weather is down there. We get it: when we Wyomingites are stuck in a mid-winter week of below-zero-tude, your brother’s southern selfie with temps in the 70s looks pretty appealing. But in summer those places turn into ovens and/or swamps where your bod bakes unmercifully and your armpits and undercarriage rain down perpetual torrents of perspiration. Yet, Wyoming’s sometimes-harsh winters only make our moderate, non-humid springtime and summer feel that much better. And if none of that convinces you to stop complaining about the biting cold, just remember that at least we don’t live in Canada, where it’s even colder and people drink milk out of bags! So be grateful, eh!

  1. Catch up with old friends

new year's resolutionsFriends from Wyoming are not like friends from other places. One of the best parts of the Cowboy State is the intangible sense of friendliness throughout. People are just flat out nicer around these parts. Once you’re outside of Wyoming, it doesn’t take long to see how lucky we are to live amongst the most genuine people in the nation. So, for 2016, catch up with your old Wyoming pals. You won’t find anyone else like them, no matter where you go.

  1. Quit taking the beauty of Wyoming for granted

Stop and look around, people! We are blessed to live where other people travel to get their nature fix. Just the fact that we can gaze at the horizon for miles and miles until the Earth curves and gaze at the night sky and actually see the milkiness of the Milky Way are blessings in themselves, not to mention the majestic Rocky Mountains, numerous national parks, stunning desert prairies, abundant wildlife: Wyoming’s got it all. So don’t forget to take a moment every once in awhile to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

Above all else, being thankful for our blessings should be number one on the resolutions list. We are lucky to live in this country and to live in this amazing state. Here’s to a great year. Let ‘er buck, Wyoming!
